Don’t you love recipes that take about 20 mins from standing in front of the fridge to sitting at the table? I picked up some crescent rolls a week ago with the intention of some sort of homemade “hot pocket” type dinner. We threw together these pizza roll-up dippers in no time! Here’s how we made them:
Pizza Roll-up Dippers
2 pkgs crescent rolls (the kind that come in a tube that you have to pop open)
store bought spaghetti sauce
8 oz block of mozzarella cheese (but I didn’t use it all)
Pepperoni slices (or other pizza toppings you enjoy – jalapenos, mushrooms, etc)
Preheat oven – 375. Pull apart the crescent rolls so that you have the triangles spread out on a greased (cooking spray) cookie sheet – I did 4 at a time and then would “move them into spot” on my baking sheet and then did 4 more.
At the bottom of the triangle (where you would normally start your roll) put a spoonful (I used a small spoon from my silverware set) of sauce. Then cut mozzarella into “domino sized cubes” (about .5 x 1 x 2 inches). Place one cube on top of the sauce and then add 2-3 pepperoni slices. Then roll up the crescent with the pizza goodies inside. It’s ok if the pepperoni is poking out a little on the sides. I sprinkled the tops of mine with garlic salt (as a take on the flavored-crust). Bake in a 375′ oven for about 10-12 mins until golden on top.
Hint: Yes, you can use shredded mozzarella, I just wanted it to be simple when I rolled it up and not have the bits flying out everywhere. Plus block cheese is cheaper!
Serve with slightly warmed leftover spaghetti sauce for dipping.
