When Landon was little (i.e. less than 2 years old) he loved two things – his paci and blankie. We took paci away when he was about 2 1/2. For his 3rd birthday, he got a Chubby Checker stuffed animal and that has been his BFF since – along with blankie.
He’s very particular about his blankie – Froggy blankie is his favorite, but in a pinch he’ll take star blankie (which is a darker blue version of froggy blankie). After a while, we had to start making him leave it in bed because he wanted to have it all the time. He was a little Linus, always dragging it around.
For the first 1 1/2 years of Brooks’ life – he didn’t have a “thing” – there was no comfort item for him – he never took a paci (even though we really tried at some points!). And just in the past 3-4 months has he started having a blankie preference. He loves green blankie (which is actually the same blanket as Landon’s just a different color). Also about a month ago, he got a ‘prayer puppy’ at church – which is just a dog stuffed animal and he is in love.
Every morning and every night, my boys have their blankies and their Chubby/puppy.
Do your kids have favorite things that they can’t do without?! I don’t know what we would do if we lost the blankies or Chubby/puppy.
